Job Title:  Global Accounting Manager

Equinox Gold is a growth-focused Canadian mining company with four operating gold mines, and a clear path to achieve more than one million ounces of annual gold production from a pipeline of development and expansion projects.

Job Summary

The Manager, Global Accounting supports the Director, Global Accounting in overseeing the company’s global accounting, financial reporting, and close processes across the company’s portfolio of operating mines and development projects. This role helps ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of consolidated financial information while driving continuous improvement and standardization across global accounting processes and systems.

This position contributes to the preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements, complex corporate accounting areas, and supports technical accounting matters across both corporate and site finance teams to ensure compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.

The Manager, Global Accounting collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen the overall efficiency, governance, and scalability of the company’s global accounting function. The successful candidate is a self-starter who is action- and goal-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of a global accounting process ownership program, monitor results, and drive initiatives that improve efficiency and standardization.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate close and reporting timelines to ensure the timely delivery of accurate financial information for internal and external reporting.
  • Support key corporate accounting areas, including accounting for equity, financial instruments, and purchase price accounting and the related journal entries.
  • Monitor IFRS developments and communicate the impact of new standards to relevant stakeholders and ensure that new standards are implemented appropriately.
  • Research and analyze complex accounting issues and prepare technical accounting memos supporting the application of IFRS.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors, including preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements and support internal control processes.
  • Support the integrity and effectiveness of the company’s ERP and consolidation systems and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including automation, process standardization, and system enhancements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Required Experience and Skill Set

  • 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including experience in large, multi-jurisdictional, publicly traded companies.
  • Experience working in an international mining company is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, consolidation processes, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Financial systems experience and system implementation skills are required. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel. SAP and OneStream experience is desirable.
  • Experience with automation or process improvement initiatives is an asset.
  • Ability to take ownership of all areas under responsibility and work proactively to suggest and implement solutions as necessary and considering overall corporate objectives.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    The salary range for this position is from $111,400.00 to $122,600.00.
