Job Title:  GIS & Database Analyst

Job Summary

Reporting to the Geospatial Data Manager, the Senior GIS & Database Analyst is responsible for supporting the maintenance of SQL Server and drill hole databases and for preparing geospatial data, mapping, and spatial analysis outputs to support exploration, mine planning, operations, and environmental management activities across Equinox Gold assets.

This role operates as a technical contributor, supporting geospatial and database activities, maintaining integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of data, and contributing to data-informed decision-making, operational efficiency, compliance, and planning initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update enterprise GIS databases, drill hole databases, and geospatial datasets for exploration, mining, and environmental projects.
  • Prepare maps, spatial visualizations, and dashboards to support technical teams and leadership decision-making.
  • Perform spatial analysis to support resource modeling, mine planning, infrastructure development, environmental monitoring, and ESG initiatives.
  • Support the integration of GIS data with other systems (e.g., mine planning software, drill hole databases, remote sensing platforms).
  • Assist field teams through data collection workflows, GPS/GNSS integration, and mobile GIS applications.
  • Support data governance, QA/QC, and standardization of geospatial data across all operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support geospatial needs and deliver solutions.
  • Maintain satellite imagery, LiDAR, drone data, and remote sensing datasets for operational use.
  • Provide user support and training on GIS tools and best practices.
  • Support regulatory reporting and permitting processes through accurate spatial data and mapping products.
  • Monitor emerging geospatial technologies and identify opportunities for improvement in business performance.
  • Complete assigned geospatial and database deliverables.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders.

 

Required Experience & Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in GIS/geospatial roles, preferably within mining or natural resources.
  • Working proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with databases (e.g., drill hole databases, SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of remote sensing, LiDAR, and drone data processing.
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (SQL, Python, ModelBuilder, or similar).
  • Experience working in multi-jurisdictional, publicly traded, or international mining environments is an asset.
  • Experience integrating GIS with mine planning or geological software (e.g., Deswik, MineSight, Leapfrog) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data standards.

Certifications

  • GIS Professional (GISP) or equivalent (preferred).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, GIS, Geography, Geospatial Sciences, or a related field.

 

The salary range for this position is from $76,600.00 to $95,800.00.
