Job Summary
Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, the Senior Geologist is responsible for leading the technical components of exploration programs at the Greenstone mine and surrounding district. The role focuses on resource growth, conversion, and target development through planning and execution of drilling programs, geological interpretation, and data integration to support resource development and discovery.
This position is based in Geraldton, ON on a rotational schedule, supporting near-mine, brownfields, and district exploration programs, with preference given to candidates residing in Northwestern Ontario or surrounding regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute drilling programs to support resource expansion, conversion, and exploration objectives.
- Log and interpret drill core, including lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization, ensuring high-quality data capture.
- Manage sample tracking and QA/QC protocols to maintain data integrity.
- Develop and refine geological models through integration of drilling, mapping, geochemistry, and geophysics.
- Interpret results and continuously update targeting based on incoming data.
- Generate and prioritize exploration targets across a range of project stages.
- Collaborate with the Exploration Superintendent to align drilling execution with technical objectives.
- Provide technical oversight to Project Geologists and field teams, including guidance on logging, sampling, and interpretation.
- Support resource modeling and collaborate with Technical Services teams to advance resource and reserve development.
- Conduct geological mapping and support surface exploration programs as required.
- Contribute to short- and long-term exploration planning aligned with project and Life-of-Mine objectives.
- Prepare and present technical reports, updates, and recommendations to management.
- Communicate geological interpretations, risks, and opportunities clearly to the exploration team and leadership.
- Maintain high standards in safety, environmental compliance, and field practices.
- Maintain and improve technical workflows, data quality, and interpretation methodologies.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- 8+ years of experience in exploration and/or mine geology.
- Experience in brownfields or operating mine environments.
- Strong understanding of orogenic gold systems (Greenstone-hosted systems preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in drill program design, geological modeling, and target generation.
- Proficiency with geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, ArcGIS Pro).
- Strong data management and QA/QC discipline.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this position is from $119,600.00 to $179,400.00.
