Director of Exploration

Job Summary
Reporting to the VP Exploration, the primary responsibility of this full-time role will be to provide management and supervision of all exploration and property maintenance activities on the company's wholly owned Ontario projects, including near-mine exploration at Greenstone Gold Mines. This position will be based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior operational leadership of the exploration function, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, safety standards, and governance requirements.
- Plan, execute, and control exploration programs, including multi-drill and multi-disciplinary campaigns, delivered safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
- Develop and manage annual exploration plans and budgets, including forecasting, cost control, contractor oversight, and performance reporting.
- Drive resource growth and asset advancement, with a focus on generating and expanding mineral resources and supporting progression toward reserves.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the exploration team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Oversee regulatory compliance and permitting, ensuring all environmental, exploration, and mining obligations are met and approvals remain current.
- Maintain effective relationships with First Nations, local communities, government agencies, joint venture partners, and exploration alliances, supporting uninterrupted operations and positive stakeholder outcomes.
- Support senior management and the Board of Directors by providing technical and operational input into strategic planning, asset evaluations, and potential acquisitions or partnerships.
- Ensure timely and accurate internal and external reporting, including management updates, regulatory filings, technical disclosures, and investor communications.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- 15+ years' progressive experience in the mineral exploration and mining industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of orogenic gold deposits and exploration experience in Canadian greenstone belts.
- Self-motivated with a track record of successfully working independently.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver exploration programs independently, exercising sound technical judgment, operational discipline, and accountability for results.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic working environment.
- Strong computer skills including GIS, 3-D modelling, and data analysis; experience with Leapfrog Geo, MX Deposit and/or ArcGIS Pro is considered an asset.
Job Conditions
- Travel within Ontario.
Certifications
- Registered Professional Geoscientist in Ontario, or eligible for Temporary or Practicing Class under Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000 (O. Reg. 324/16).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline; Master’s degree or PhD in Geology or a related field is preferred.
The salary range for this position is from 200,000 to 230,000 annually.
