Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Senior Engineering Technician is to coordinate the daily execution of the long range mine plan is a safe, environmentally responsible, technically sound, and economically feasible manner for the development and exploitation of the Western Mesquite ore body. The primary responsibility is to plan and administer daily, weekly and monthly mining sequences, including drill and blast activities, dumping location planning, survey task, and coordination with the departments of Mine Operations, Mine maintenance, Geology, Process for stacking plans of the heap leach facility. Tasks also include supervision and management of the survey team, monthly end-of-month survey pickups, qeotechnical surveys, and site control surveys.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Health and Safety

  • Knows responsibilities related to WMMl's Emergency Response Plan (ERP) Learns and administers all company and legislated policies and procedures Contributes to the department's health and safety goals and objectives
  • Responds to safety concerns and/or unsafe conditions, and takes corrective action, or seeks assistance in doing so

Environment

  • Knows responsibilities related to WMMl's Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Contributes to the department's environmental goals and objectives
  • Ensures department activities prevent or mitigate the effects of pollution
  • Responds to environmental concerns and takes corrective action, or seeks assistance in doing so
  • Follows company standards and guidelines for spill reporting and response

Departmental

  • Using operational parameters produce daily mine plans for drill, blast, load, haul, and dump activities
  • Develop monthly and weekly plans by coordinating activities and adjusting where necessary
  • Ensure that waste dump and pit designs are effectively implemented in the field
  • Confirm that planned production goals are realistic by conducting equipment studies
  • Merge short-term plans into medium-term plans to avoid bottlenecks
  • Evaluate short-term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with operational objectives
  • Monitor the work of mining activities by reviewing the state of progress on compliance plans and specifications issued and analyzing the results of completed work
  • Research data to support decision making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies
  • Keep current with trends related to mine design and integrate this information into work assignments and methodology
  • Continually work to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set

  • Manages spending within approved budget

Communication

  • Maintains effective information exchange with relevant departments

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mininig Engineering or Relevant Experience
  • 6-10 years of mining experience, preferably in conventional truck/shovel open pit operation
  • Working knowledge of Mine plan preferred
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to prepare accurate records and reports
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with internal and external contacts
  • Proficiency with GPS, total station, conventional survey equipment and drones
  • FAA Part 107 preferred
  • MS Office Suite

 

The hourly pay range for this position is $53.00 -$60.00 based upon experience.
