The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Site Security Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the Site Security Supervisor is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the mine site security program. The security supervisor serves as site’s security subject matter expert and takes the lead for implementing all security related policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Oversee daily security operations at the mine site, ensuring the safety of personnel and assets.
- Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
- Manage access to restricted areas within the mine, ensuring only authorized personnel have entry.
- Monitor and maintain electronic and manual access control systems.
- Supervise the logging and documentation of visitors, deliveries, and personnel movements.
- Respond to and manage security incidents, including theft, unauthorized access, and emergencies.
- Conduct investigations into security breaches or incidents and report findings to management.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Supervise and mentor security staff, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
- Evaluate team performance and provide regular feedback to improve effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company standards related to security.
- Develop and maintain relationships with various internal stakeholders, i.e. Processing, Site Services, Health & Safety, etc.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Well-developed incident report writing and presentation skills.
- Business continuity and/or crisis management experience.
- Team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions.
- Ability to learn quickly and navigate ambiguity.
- Ability to prioritize effectively, work within strict deadlines, and align individual work with the organization’s business objectives.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience within the security, military, or law enforcement community.
- Minimum of two (2) years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
- Supervisory experience with industrial security operations. Military, or law enforcement.
- Able to articulate well with excellent presence when briefing management on security program plans and activities.
- Excellent report and policy writing skills.
LOCATION
- This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario on a 4/3 rotation
