Job Title:  Mobile Maintenance Projects Supervisor

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with five operating mines in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Nicaragua.

Job Summary

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Major Projects Supervisor – Mobile Maintenance to join the maintenance leadership team.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Senior Supervisor, the Major Projects Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of major mobile equipment projects across the operation. This position ensures that large-scale equipment activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project scope, schedule, and operational readiness requirements.

The role provides direct supervision and coordination of multi-disciplinary trades, including both contractors and Equinox Gold employees, while ensuring all work complies with site safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Major Equipment Projects

  • Coordinate and supervise the loading and unloading of major equipment and components.
  • Manage mid-life rebuilds and major component replacement programs.
  • Oversee new machine assembly and commissioning activities.
  • Supervise the decommissioning and disassembly of mature equipment prior to transport or disposal.
  • Ensure equipment is commissioned and returned to service safely, reliably, and in accordance with operational standards.

Team Leadership

  • Direct and coordinate the work activities of multiple skilled trades, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide clear work direction while maintaining strong communication across maintenance, operations, planning, and contractor teams.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to site procedures.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop, maintain, and track project scopes, timelines, and work packages.
  • Coordinate project workflows to ensure tasks are executed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Identify and document scope changes, deviations, and project risks.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular inspections of build pads, maintenance shops, and project work areas to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of specialized tools, lifting equipment, and materials required for major equipment work.

Problem Solving & Risk Management

  • Address operational challenges such as weather delays, labor constraints, equipment issues, or logistical barriers.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum and minimize disruption to operations.

Resource & Cost Control

  • Ensure the required materials and parts are ordered, staged, and available when needed.
  • Monitor project expenditures and maintain control of approved budgets and cost forecasts.

Performance Accountability

  • Ensure targeted machine return-to-service timelines are achieved.
  • Track and evaluate contractor performance to ensure productivity, safety, and value for project expenditures.

 

Required Experience and Skill Set

  • Ability to coordinate effectively between maintenance personnel, management, and contractors.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and deliver large equipment projects on schedule.
  • Ability to manage unexpected challenges while maintaining project progress.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and compliance.
  • Ability to manage materials, manpower, and budgets efficiently.
  • 5+ years of experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience working with large mobile mining equipment rebuilds, assemblies, or major maintenance projects is strongly preferred.

Job Conditions

  • This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.

Certifications

  • Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification.
