The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with four operating mines in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Drill & Blast Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join the team. Reporting to the Short-Range Mine Planning Engineer, the Drill & Blast EIT provides engineering design and technical support for drill and blast activities.
14 days on / 14 days off fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rotational role based in Geraldton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mine infrastructure construction projects from initiation to completion
- Prepare scope of work, request for proposal, funding, and other procurement documents
- Monitor project schedules and budgets
- Assist in the selection and management of consultants and contractors
- Assist in the design of mine structures
- Field inspections in conjunction with the project forepersons
- Coordination with the survey team for lay-outs and pick-ups
- Understand and map-out workflows in drill and blast, mine planning, geotech and survey
- Implement workflows or process maps in Deswik
- Create macros, scripts, and programs for the automation of engineering tasks
- Perform drill and blast, mine planning, and geotechnical engineering roles during vacation periods
- Follow proper document control to ensure information is organised and readily accessible
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Skill Set

- Rigorous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 productivity suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with CAD software; Deswik preferred.
- Strong spatial and analytical skills.
- Willingness to adapt and work in an inclusive environment.
- 1+ year of experience in the mining industry; hard-rock open-pit mining experience preferred.
Job Conditions

Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Eligibility, or progress toward eligibility, for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
