Job Title:  Mill Trainer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mill Trainer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Training Coordinator, the Mill Trainer r is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training materials for the Mill Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date training programs, files, and records for the Mill Department in compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Mentor operators by evaluating their performance, determining competency levels, and providing coaching and technical expertise.
  • Prepare teaching materials and job aids, and deliver training.
  • Help colleagues perform their jobs safely and effectively by sharing information, skills, and knowledge.
  • Evaluate training materials after delivery and revise or update them as required.
  • Collaborate with mining team leaders to identify and prioritize training needs.
  • Collaborate with technical personnel to observe and analyze jobs, and validate operating procedures and processes to be used for training.
  • Deliver training to individuals and groups on-site, in equipment cabs, using simulators, or in a classroom setting.
  • Develop and deliver computer-based training.
  • Plan and optimize training schedules within operational deadlines, and track and document employee progress.
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Support operational goals by modeling corporate values and best practices.

 

Required Experience and Skill Set

  • 7+ years of technical experience in open-pit mining operations.
  • 5+ years of relevant training experience, preferably in the mining industry. 
  • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment is an asset.

Certifications

  • Train-the-Trainer qualification or Certificate in Adult Education Instruction or equivalent work experience required.
  • Common Core for Surface Mining is an asset.

Education

  • High school diploma, General Education Development (GED), or combination of education and work-related experience.
