Job Title:  Junior Buyer

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the Junior Buyer will assist with sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services to support operations across the site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their procurement career to develop skills in a dynamic mining environment. The Junior Buyer will work closely with the supply chain and site teams to ensure purchasing activities are completed efficiently and in alignment with company policies and safety standards.

This position is based at the Greenstone site and follows one of two rotation schedules: either 4 days on (Monday to Thursday) with 3 days off, or a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the purchasing of inventory, services, and materials under the guidance of the Senior Buyer.
  • Assist with requesting and reviewing supplier quotations for goods and services.
  • Help monitor order status and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery, especially for urgent requirements.
  • Support the preparation of basic spending or order tracking reports.
  • Assist with sourcing activities in alignment with established procedures and company policies.
  • Create and update purchase orders and vendor information in SAP.
  • Assist with vendor setup and maintenance in contractor and procurement systems.
  • Follow up on shipping details, supporting expediting where necessary.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice or payment issues.
  • Assist with contract administration and document management tasks.
  • Support internal teams by ensuring their procurement needs are accurately captured and communicated.
  • Develop a working knowledge of SAP and other procurement systems.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the company’s mission, values, and commitment to safety.

 

Required Experience and Skill Set

  • 1+ year of experience, preferably in a mining procurement or accounting environment.
  • General working knowledge of procurement, accounting, and cost control systems, including hands-on experience with Operational Procurement, Contract Administration, Accounts Payable processes, and ERP systems such as SAP.

Certifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
