Job Summary:
Reporting to the Field Supervisor and Senior Geologist, the Field Technician will support exploration activities on the company’s projects in southern California at Mesquite and Castle Mountain. This position involves drillhole layout and inspections, sample collection and management, warehouse organization, and tool/equipment operation. This team-oriented position will be based at our Castle Mountain mine site, approximately 80 miles south of Henderson, Nevada and work 8 days on/6 days off.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Support drilling and field programs to ensure efficient and safe execution.

Safety and progress checks at RC and core drills.

Stake out drillhole collars, sumps and access roads.

Insert T posts and fence sumps.

Ensure safe access and permit compliance of sites.

Collect drill samples from drill sites at active/inactive mines, including core and RC chips.

Lay out, wash, photograph, cut, sample and move diamond drill core.

Geotechnical logging of drill core, including recovery, hardness, joint condition rating, specific gravity, magnetic susceptibility, and other measurements as required.

GPS surveys of drillhole collars and other field data.

Download GPS data and notify geologists.

Conduct sample tracking for drill programs and exploration projects.

Organize and label sample bags; insert QA/QC samples.

Organize warehouse and sorting of core, RC chips, QAQC samples, pulps and field supplies.

Deliver RC chips and pulps to geologists for further review.

Communicate progress to Senior Geologist and exploration team.

Support field crews and contractors during exploration activities.

Maintain and repair of equipment and tools; practice good housekeeping.

Conduct work area and contractor inspections; mitigate and report sub-standard conditions.

Adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory policies.

Maintain and improve SOPs related to the responsibilities outlined above.

Travel to projects within California and the western US.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Exposure to exploration drilling and remote field work is desirable

Experience with basic carpentry, power tools, telehandlers and backhoes are desirable

Ability to inspect and safely operate tools and equipment

Experience with GPS and compass navigation

Basic proficiency with Microsoft suite

Good oral and written communication skills
Certifications: Valid Class C driver’s license.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed at an active mine site that may include open pit mining, processing facilities, leach pads, maintenance areas, and office environments. Employees may be exposed to extreme weather conditions associated with a desert climate, including high heat, cold temperatures, wind, dust, and occasional precipitation or flash flooding. Depending on the role, work areas may involve proximity to large mobile equipment, moving mechanical parts, blasting activities, noise, vibration, diesel exhaust fumes, chemicals, fuels, oils, airborne particles, or other industrial hazards typical of mining operations. Outdoor work on uneven or rough terrain is common for many roles. Employees may encounter desert wildlife and native plant life. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as determined by job duties, task hazards, and work location. PPE includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other PPE as determined by job task and location.

Manual dexterity; handling and grasping; fingering and fine motor skills; speaking clearly; hearing in speech, radio, and environmental ranges; seeing, reading, and comprehension; near and distant vision; depth perception. While performing job responsibilities, employees must be able to communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness in an active mining environment. Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or working on uneven surfaces. Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, controls, or computer systems is required. Specific physical demand requirements will be provided during the interview process. Employees may be required to work while wearing the required PPE, including respiratory and hearing protection. The annual pay range for this position starts at $ 70,327.00- $93,650.00 based on experience
