Job Title:  Project Geologist II

Job Summary

Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent and Senior Geologist, the Project Geologist supports the execution of exploration programs across the Company’s Ontario assets. The role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of drilling and field activities, data collection, and supervision of field crews to ensure programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with technical objectives.

This position is based in Geraldton, ON, on a rotational schedule, supporting near-mine, brownfields, and district exploration programs, with preference given to candidates residing in Northwestern Ontario or surrounding regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise drilling and field activities to ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Log drill core, including lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization, ensuring accurate and consistent data capture.
  • Support sample tracking and QA/QC protocols to maintain data integrity.
  • Work with the Senior Geologist to implement drill plans and adjust execution based on ongoing results.
  • Monitor drill progress and support optimization of drilling performance and productivity.
  • Compile and interpret geological data, including mapping, geochemistry, and drilling results.
  • Assist in development of geological models and target generation.
  • Conduct geological mapping and support surface exploration programs as required.
  • Supervise and support field technicians and junior geologists.
  • Coordinate field crews and contractors during exploration activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; conduct regular field checks.
  • Support permitting and site access requirements as needed.
  • Contribute to short-term planning and scheduling of exploration activities.
  • Assist in preparation of weekly, monthly, and technical reports.
  • Communicate field observations, results, and issues to Senior Geologists and the exploration team.
  • Maintain and improve SOPs related to field and data collection activities.

 

Required Experience and Skill Set

  • 3+ years of experience in exploration and/or mine geology.
  • Experience in remote or rotational operations.
  • Exposure to orogenic gold systems (Greenstone-hosted preferred).
  • Experience with drilling programs and core logging.
  • Proficiency with geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise crews and coordinate field activities.

Job Conditions

  • Combination of field and office work.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to operate vehicles on paved roads and gravel tracks.
  • Able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
  • Full proficiency in English.
  • Travel within Ontario.

Certifications

  • Valid driver's license.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in relevant subject area is desired.
