The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Job Summary
We are seeking a Mine Operations Senior Supervisor. Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Mine Operations Senior Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, coordination, and operational oversight to multiple mine operation functions through direct supervision of three frontline supervisors. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant execution of mining activities by driving accountability, supporting workforce development, and implementing operational and safety initiatives across load & haul, development, and roads & dumps activities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance management to direct reports to ensure operational targets and standards are met.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all supervised areas.
- Align supervisors an crews with site priorities, production plans, and company values.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead the implementation and reinforcement of site safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections, workplace observations, and field-level risk assessments. - Ensure corrective actions from incidents, inspections, and audits are implemented and tracked to completion.
Promote proactive hazard identification and employee engagement in safety programs.
Operational Oversight
- Coordinate daily and short-term operational activities across load & haul, development, and roads & dumps to ensure efficiency and alignment with mine plans.
- Monitor production, equipment utilization, and workforce performance; address and escalate issues.
- Support supervisors in managing equipment availability, operating practices, and work execution standards.
Workforce Management
- Drive accountability of supervision and operators through clear expectations, performance feedback, and progressive discipline.
- Review and support crew manpower schedules to ensure adequate staffing and coverage.
- Develop and maintain training plans for supervisors and operators, ensuring competency, compliance, and succession readiness.
Communication & Reporting
- Act as a key communication link between frontline supervision and mine management.
- Participate in operational meetings, safety meetings, and planning discussions.
- Ensure accurate reporting of safety, production, manpower, and operational issues.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve safety performance, productivity, cost control, and work practices.
- Support change management initiatives and operational improvements across departments.
Required Experience & Skill Set
- 12+ years in surface or underground mining operations, with progressive supervisory responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience leading frontline supervisors in a mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations, safe work practices, and operational standards.
- Experience with workforce planning, training development, and performance management systems is an asset.
