Job Title:  Mill Maintenance Senior Planner

Job Summary

Greenstone Gold Mine is seeking an experienced Mill Maintenance Senior Planner to provide strategic leadership in maintenance planning and asset reliability across the mill and associated infrastructure. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, this senior role focuses on long-range planning, asset integrity, failure prevention, and mentorship of the planning team.

This position goes beyond day-to-day scheduling and plays a critical role in improving maintenance effectiveness, safety performance, and cost control for milling operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain long-range (6+ month) maintenance forecasts, including major component replacements and annual shutdowns.

· Create, optimize, and audit maintenance strategies and plans to ensure accuracy, relevance, and reliability improvement.

· Manage the maintenance backlog, prioritize work based on operational needs, and develop execution strategies.

· Accurately estimate job durations, manpower requirements, and resource needs.

· Scope and manage complex maintenance work packages, including job plans, BOMs, tooling, contractor coordination, and staging to maximize wrench time.

· Prepare comprehensive job packages with a strong focus on Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).

· Conduct regular field audits to assess plan quality and execution effectiveness; incorporate feedback from supervisors and trades.

· Support daily planners as required to meet business demands.

· Act as the technical authority for the CMMS (SAP), ensuring data integrity, accurate coding, and reliable equipment history.

· Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all mill and auxiliary equipment.

· Maintain accurate breakdown, service, and cost history to support reporting and analysis.

· Supervise, coach, and mentor mill maintenance planners, ensuring priorities, deadlines, and standards are met.

· Approve and manage planner leave requests while maintaining adequate coverage.

· Serve as the escalation point for planning-related issues and resolve them efficiently.

· Facilitate planning meetings including weekly scheduling, backlog reviews, and shutdown planning.

· Record and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items with stakeholders.

· Actively promote and uphold GGM safety standards through safety interactions, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Assist in developing and managing annual operating and capital budgets for mill maintenance.

· Monitor Work Management KPIs, provide regular performance updates, and drive improvement initiatives where gaps exist.

· Coordinate closely with supply chain and material coordinators to ensure timely availability of parts and equipment.

· Mill and associated systems including Crushers, Power Plant, Water Treatment, and Dewatering systems (flexibility required as business needs evolve).

· Strong SAP CMMS experience (required for success in the role).

· Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Project, and Office suite.

· Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, schematics, OEM manuals, and single-line diagrams.

· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Certifications

  • Valid inter-provincial trade qualification certificate in a relevant field.
  • Maintenance Planning Specialist certificate, such as Carver.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Technology. A relevant Red Seal trade qualification combined with applicable skills and experience will also be considered.
