Job Summary
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Senior Planner, the Mill Maintenance Material Handling Specialist is responsible for the safe management of materials supporting Mill Mechanical, Mill E&I, Asset Reliability, Process Control, and Planning activities, while ensuring production and quality requirements are met within established guidelines. The role collaborates with all departments as a team to achieve budgeted targets for HS&E, cost, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the repair and return process for stock and direct charge items.
- Manage material staging areas for short-term and shutdown planning.
- Manage mechanical and electrical tool cribs and consumables.
- Monitor the return-to-stock process using the Tag System.
- Assist supervisors and planners with material tracking.
- Assist with short-term and shutdown planning and staging by updating work orders with material locations.
- Ensure spare parts holding integrity by preventing the removal of parts from designated spares.
- Attend required work management meetings.
- Manage Mill Maintenance Utility mobile equipment, rental equipment, and specialty tools.
- Manage warehouse deliveries and returns.
- Manage laydown areas where plant materials are stored and staged.
- Manage lubrication laydown areas.
- Perform snow removal around the key areas of ownership.
- Maintain housekeeping around key areas of ownership.
- Coordinate and assist with valued scrap removal from site.
- Coordinate and assist with waste management from plant areas.
- Manage direct charge inventories.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in safety is essential in this role.
- A willingness to take on progressively more responsibilities as they grow and develop with the company.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and produce high quality work within time constraints.
- SAP or other CMMS type of system experience an asset.
- Must have previous experience organizing and managing material.
- Prior experience in a base metal processing plant or similar working environment is advantageous.
- Experience working within a multidiscipline maintenance group is an asset.
Job Conditions
- Physically fit and capable of working in challenging outdoor conditions.
- This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.
Certifications
- Valid Class G Driver's License.
- Common Core for Surface Mining is an asset.
- A maintenance trade certification in an electrical or mechanical type discipline is an asset.
Education
The salary range for this position is from $81,621.00 to $89,315.00.
