The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Job Summary
We are seeking an Assay Lab Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Assayer, the Assay Lab Technician is responsible for the delivery of timely and precise analytical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to pre-operational checks and procedural requirements to safely start-up, efficiently operate, and safely shutdown all lab equipment.
- Have a strong commitment to Safety First
- Ensure all aspects of operation, environmental policies and practices are followed, keeping the preservation of the natural environment a priority.
- Assist, train, mentor and troubleshoot in sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, LECO, instrumentation (AAS and ICP-OES), and bullion testing.
- Microbalance weighing.
- Keep a logbook for all routine equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with crew members, lead hands and supervisor to ensure tasks are completed safely, timely and efficiently.
- Execute procedures and systems to achieve results within given timeframes.
- Provide support to the team to meet OHSE site standards - ensuring all lab work areas are safe.
- Complete and maintain shift logs and reports to the level of detail required, ensuring accuracy in the reporting of data.
- Share best practices and experiences with other technicians to promote a strong and successful teamwork environment.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- 1+ years of experience in an assay lab setting.
