Job Description
Job Title:  Environmental Technician

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  •  Assist with tasks set out in the Environmental Monitoring Plan such as sampling, inspections of work sites to identify potential impacts and investigate environmental incidents.

  • Follow field procedures and receive training on collecting samples and monitoring data outlined by environmental permits, regulations, and systems in accordance with sampling protocols.

  • Provide input on environmental programs and practices to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.

  • Assist in compiling and reviewing data to identify trends and maintain site compliance.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Environmental Management, Science or Engineering

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in environmental sampling

  • Experience operating snow mobiles, ATVs and boats

  • Valid Driver’s License

 

LOCATION 

This position will be based at the mine site in Geraldton, ON. Those working a 1/1 or 2/2 rotation will stay at an onsite camp.
