Greenstone Mine - Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer

Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario.  The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.

 

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing the long-term mining strategies while promoting and respecting Greenstone Mines’ values, Health and Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
•    Lead end to end strategic mine planning process and development to support all mining related activities;
•    Work in collaboration with all site functions to determine plan, design input parameters and assumptions, ensuring all design work (pit slopes, dumps, stockpiles, roads, drill and blast) 
•    Provide strategic mine plans, life of mine plans and scenarios;
•    Generation of timely and accurate Long Term Planning work packages which include Reserves and Resource estimation, pit optimization, various mine planning activities, strategic mine plans and options scenarios, mine design and scheduling and economic evaluations of various project;
•    Support site projects, permitting and studies work;
•    Liaise with geology and geotechnical engineers to determine and apply design criteria for the mine being designed;
•    Liaise with mine operations to ensure practicality of designs;
•    Provide a high standard of technical reports and presentations, both written and oral, to all levels of the organization;

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
•    Deep understanding of value drivers, and ability to drive fact-based problem solving and decision-making;
•    High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques open-pit mining software;
•    Knowledge of unit costing methods for resource and reserve analysis and of cash flow and financial analysis through the use and manipulation of project financial models;
•    Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
•    Strong safety leadership capability;

 

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
•    Experience in a range of mine planning horizons including long term mine planning, production support, mine operations and design in large and diversified mine sites;
•    Preference for experience in conventional hard rock gold operations;
•    Experience with resource/reserves estimation;
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering with eligibility for P. Eng registration with the PEO;
•    Minimum 10 years’ senior technical and operational experience in an open pit mining environment;

 

LOCATION
•    To be determined with frequent visits to site in Geraldton, Ontario.
