Greenstone Mine - Mill Shift Supervisor

Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario.  The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.

 

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mill Shift Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Operations General Foreman, the Mill Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the mills day-to-day activities safely while ensuring production and quality requirements are within guidelines.  The Shift Supervisor will be collaborating with all other departments as a team, to achieve set out budgeted targets.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Create schedules based off employee availability, and coordinate shift activities and tasks based on team’s experience and skill set; plan for situations where an employee doesn’t show up and is unable to cover his or her shift
  • Supervise production personnel though coordinating schedules, monitoring workflow and resolving problems
  • Develop production plan for assigned shift
  • Establish maintenance protocol for efficiency and minimal downtime
  • Coordinate preventive/corrective measures with maintenance department

  • Prioritize safety, training all personnel in OSHA regulations to reduce hazards in the facility
  • Greet each employee as they arrive for a shift, and confirm that he or she is aware of designated responsibilities; provide encouragement and evaluate job performance in a personal setting when necessary
  • Maintain an organized and professional work area by setting the precedent of organizing and cleaning
  • Intervene in situations where employees have conflicts; come up with viable solutions that reflect the company’s integrity and are beneficial to the customer
  • Collaborate with other shift managers to provide trainings to employees on company policies and required conduct
  • Manage inventory counts, and use specific algorithms and fulfillment software to determine how much product to order
  • Accept any other duties within operation as deemed necessary

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) or combination of education and pertinent work-related experience
  • 10 years Operational experience in Ore processing (Gold processing an asset)
  • 3 years Supervisor experience
  • Ontario Common Core (Generic Supervisor, Processing Mill Operations) is an asset
  • SAP experience an asset

  • This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario.
