Greenstone Mine - Junior Mine Geologist

Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario.  The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.

 

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Junior Mine Geologist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Exploration and Geology, the Mine Geologist is responsible for playing an important role in the implementation and follow-up of RC drilling programs, supervision of grade control activities as well as interpretation and reporting of geological data while ensuring safe operational practices.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Support the Manager while working in a production team to maximize ore recovery through accurate identification of mineralization, optimal ore classification and supervision of extraction
  • Implement and supervise in-pit RC drilling programs
  • Perform in-pit geological mapping and data analysis for both grade control and geotechnical evaluation purposes
  • Supervise RC and blast holes sampling programs
  • Compile and interpret geologic and assay data to define grade distribution (ore-waste boundaries) and facilitate efficient mining
  • Ensure accuracy of production dig line mark-ups
  • Supervise and report in-pit production and material movement activities
  • Update the grade control database and design production ore blocks
  • Ensure all mine geology activities follow health and safety policies and regulations
  • Supervise and mentor Junior Geologists and Geological Technicians
  • Participate with end of period grades and tonnes reconciliation
  • Work with the Manager on new work approaches, methods and policies to optimize performance
  • and to ensure adherence to organizational standards
  • Participate in production meetings with Mine Operations and Engineering
  • Implement processes, policies, systems and practices within Geology that contribute to effective
  • geology operations

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Candidate must have at least 1-2 years of industry experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology
  • Prior expereince in an industrial setting - mine site experience is an asset
  • Eligible for registration as Geologist in Training
