Greenstone Mine - Co-Op Civil Engineer

Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario.  The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.

 

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Co-op Civil Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the TMF Coordinator, the Co-op Civil Engineer is responsible for assisting in the execution of the 2024 TMF dam raise and more specifically, the management of the quality control and stability monitoring programs.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
•   Manage quality control program and ensure contractors comply with all quality requirements outlined by the Engineer of Record.
•   Monitor and report the progress and quality of construction of the 2024 Tailings Facility raise.
•   Perform daily and weekly inspections of the TMF and associated infrastructure, and document findings as per environmental compliance conditions.
•   Assist the Senior Coordinator and Superintendent in managing and planning all work at the TMF.
•   Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly reports for distribution to GGM management.
•   Assist in processing and preparation of survey data for rockfill placement at the TMF.
•   Develop and maintain a “Lessons Learned” program throughout the construction of the Tailings Facility raise.
•   Follow proper document control to ensure information is organised and readily accessible.
•   Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

•   Ability to work independently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
•   Strong attention to detail
•   Proficient in MS Office
    •   Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and SharePoint an asset
•   Experienced with any CAD software
•   Experience in heavy civil construction, more specifically embankment dam construction is an asset
•   Comfortable working in inclement weather and uneven ground in a construction environment
•   Ready to work 12-hour days on a 2 weeks in / 2 week out rotation (14 days work, 12 days off, plus 2 travel days per rotation)

 

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

•   3rd year student or above, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or a college diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field
•   Valid driver’s license
•   At least one previous work term/co-op in a similar field or industrial environment is an asset

 

LOCATION
•   This position based in Geraldton, Ontario on a rotational basis
