Senior Recruiter

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and HR Superintendent, the Recruiter will  be responsible for the lifecycle of recruiting needs for Equinox Gold Corp., US Operations, including but not limited to;  planning and fulfilling immediate and long-term recruitment needs, analysis of exempt and non-exempt positions, weekly status reporting of activities / internal postings and workforce communications / announcements, company intranet / internet design and maintenance, posting of positions for internet use, compensation research, scheduling pre-employment tests, physical and drug screens, new hire orientations and process, establishing relationships with offsite entities, and attending / coordinating recruiting and career fairs.  The Recruiter will provide an exceptional candidate experience and advance our company brand and culture.  Recruiter will also source and screen candidates, plan and schedule onsite / teleconference interviews with multiple personnel and negotiate offers of employment while adhering to EEO requirements / standards / tracking and record-keeping; overall adherence to company HR policies and procedures.  Employ superior negotiation and persuasive skills to secure qualified candidates to match accurately with company requirements and liaison with all levels of management to achieve employment goals.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills before, during & after the recruiting cycle /process
  • Identify and capitalize upon opportunities to improve internal recruitment processes and procedures achieving maximum cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure standardization of all company-wide job descriptions and adhere to departmental guidelines & post/house in common location, e.g., internal company website
  • Conduct classification of exempt and non-exempt position analysis on annual basis. Final designations are approved by the HR Manager and the HR Superintendent.
  • Conduct salary survey research and establish/maintain on a consistent basis uniform salary grades.
  • Ensure accurate job advertisement posting of open positions through local contacts and through online resources.
  • Provide weekly written reports/status updates of recruiting activities for all positions to the HR Department and hiring managers.
  • Maintain accurate records on recruitment activity, including personnel requisition log and weekly recruitment report- online and paper based.
  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and to provide information about the organization and position. Assures that the hiring process is completed on a timely basis, by following all company policies, practices and state and federal regulations, including but not limited to: posting of open positions, preparing offer letters, scheduling interviews, and processing of new hire paperwork.
  • Design, implement and coordinate new-hire orientation process and work with multiple department heads to ensure consistency and plans for improvement.
  • Training of management personnel in proper recruiting interviewing techniques.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with schools, external recruiters, employment agencies and other organizations to identify and recruit candidates.
  • Administer the temporary workforce usage by requisitioning, assigning, replacing and/or hiring of temporary workers in accordance with the company practices & policies.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with minimal instruction / supervision.
  • Responsible for maintaining active job description data base & ensure signoffs/approvals of department managers for hierarchy & consistency.
  • Provides full life cycle recruitment support with a strong focus on sourcing, interviewing and assessing candidates within the mining industry.
  • Identify future hiring needs and working with site managers to develop job descriptions.
  • Collaborate with site managers to build specialized recruitment plans aimed at addressing their long-term strategic vision and gaps within their team.
  • Create pre-screening and interviewing guides based on competency assessment and trains/coaches managers on effective interviewing techniques.
  • Partners and works closely with other HR team members to ensure a consistent flow of HR services to client departments, managers and employees.
  • Complete all aspects of onboarding, including but not limited to, creating and extending offer letters, scheduling pre-employment, coordinating start dates with the training department, remain in constant communication with candidates in pre-employment to create an exceptional onboarding experience.
  • Manage internship program.
  • Locate and attend career-fairs to promote the company’s reputation as a good employment opportunity.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR SUBSITUTED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the mining industry.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field from an accredited U.S. University preferred. 
  • Additional certifications in Human Resources desirable, e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.   

 

SKILLS:

  • Basic knowledge of California State and Federal Employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong collaborative partnerships across functional lines at all levels within the Company and influence decisions related to recruitment and hiring practices. 
  • The ability to conduct different types of interviews. 
  • Ability to manage time and deliver results for multiple business locations with competing priorities. 
  • Compensation and job profile design experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both written and orally to all levels within and outside the Company.
  • Above average computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, FrontPage).
  • Public speaking skills/presentation highly desirable. 
  • Experience with Social Media campaigns highly desirable. Demonstrated
