Greenstone Mine - Metallurgical Technician
Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario. The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for providing metallurgical support to the operations and metallurgical department to improve performance, stability, and overall efficiency of the plant.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Provide metallurgical and technical support by performing process plant related projects and troubleshooting activities.
- Establish quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies are being maintained.
- Ensure the process plant meets its targets for throughput, recovery, and product quality in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Conduct analysis on process plant samples to improve plant performance.
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee.
- Maintain and manage agreed projects to improve the metallurgical performance of the plant within established operational parameters to ensure identified targets are met ensuring maximum metal extraction at minimal cost.
- Provide technical resources and guidance for the production and maintenance departments when required for the purpose of optimizing productivity and resolving key issues on plant.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement programs.
- Generate prompt and precise metallurgical reports.
- Execute accurate performance and environmental monitoring through sampling and analytical procedures cost effectively with regards to high level of safety of self and fellow employees
- Undertake other duties as required by Senior Metallurgist
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge in plant optimization and metallurgical test work procedures
- Strong metallurgical analysis background is an asset.
- Must be proactive and have the drive to initiate challenging work.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Minitab and SAP is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Diploma in Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or its equivalent/related field
- Minimum 2 years working experience in a CIP gold plant.
LOCATION
- This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario.
- 7/7 or 14/14 rotation.
