Senior Metallurgist

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Oversee metallurgical activities related to a large-scale heap leach operation including preparation of metallurgical balances and reports, conducting metallurgical testing, and developing management system procedures. Contribute to safe, efficient, and optimal Plant performance.

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

• Provide metallurgical research test development to improve process efficiency and increase the recovery. 
• Design and development of metallurgical leach tests.
• Application of metallurgical research methods in minerals.
• Monitor gold production of heap leach using various methods including sampling, computer modeling and testing.
• Implement quality management system procedures for accurate metal production reporting.
• Implement safety, as well as environmental procedures and ensure Plant documentation is up to date.
• Work with operations departments (both Mine and Process) to develop and execute operational plans (ROM ore loading, solution management).
• Develop Process Operators and Lab Technicians for safe, comprehensive contributions to Process Operations and Lab test work.
• Fill in for supervisor when required.
• Actively participate in the execution of various Business Improvement projects within the Process Department and carry out other duties as assigned.

MININUM EDUCATION OR SUBSTITUTED EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing.
• 5 years, preferably in the mining industry; will consider graduate engineers
• Experience in the processing of gold ore by heap leaching and familiar with other methods such as gravity, flotation, and CIL.

The annual salary-range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000, based on experience.
